I'm looking to build a lightweight travel kit for my Canon EOS R6 Mark II. What are the best RF mount lenses for travel photography? I'm interested in versatile zooms and a couple of primes. Any recommendations on specific lenses that would work well for landscapes, street photography, and general travel use?

TL;DR: My cousin spent a fortune to save weight for a Peru trip then forgot his memory cards and had to use a 4GB knock-off card from a gift shop. Building on the earlier suggestion, I definitely see the appeal of some of those setups, but honestly, chasing the perfect lightweight kit can be a real rabbit hole. I'm usually pretty satisfied with what I have, but this reminds me of when my cousin went way too deep into the technical data for a trek in Peru. He was obsessing over every gram to save his back and spent weeks comparing weight specs and glass density. He got so caught up in the technical side and trying to cut costs that he actually forgot his SD cards at home. Ended up paying way too much for a single 4GB card at a tourist trap. It was pretty funny watching him try to shoot a whole bucket list trip on one tiny card while carrying all that gear. Sometimes even the most tech-focused plans just fall apart because of one tiny detail...

If you're looking for a versatile travel lens for the Canon EOS R6 Mark II, I highly recommend the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. It’s lightweight, compact, and covers a great range for landscapes, portraits, and everyday shots. The constant f/4 aperture ensures solid performance in various lighting conditions, and the image stabilization pairs perfectly with the R6 Mark II’s in-body stabilization for sharp handheld shots. If you need something wider, the RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM is excellent for landscapes and architecture, though it’s bulkier. For more reach, the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM is a superzoom option, sacrificing some aperture flexibility for convenience. Ultimately, the 24-105mm strikes the best balance between quality and portability for travel. Happy shooting!
