Does anyone know a solid but cheap cage for the R6 Mark II that wont break the bank? I've been looking at the SmallRig one because everyone says its the gold standard but I also saw this Neewer version that looks basically identical and is like 20 bucks cheaper.

I'm trying to kit out my R6II for some wedding work coming up next month in Chicago and my budget is super tight after buying the body. I saw a few reviews saying the Neewer one blocks the battery door or the dial access on the Mark II specifically even though it says its compatible so now I'm second guessing everything. Is the SmallRig worth the extra cash or is there something else I should look at...

tbh I'd stick with the SmallRig Camera Cage for Canon EOS R6 Mark II 4159 even if it costs more. I've seen those cheaper cages mess up the dial clearance because the R6II body is slightly different from the original R6. Be careful with generic brands since a jammed battery door during a wedding is a nightmare. The SmallRig fit is much more precise... totally worth the peace of mind.

I've handled the Tilta Full Camera Cage for Canon R6 Mark II Black during long Chicago weddings.

  • Tilta: better Arca integration
  • Neewer: awkward dial access I'll take a rigid build over saving cash any day.
