Ive been using Amazon since like the early 2000s so I usually know my way around the UI and the checkout flow but I just ran into the most annoying thing. Ive been spending the last three hours basically building this massive cart for our kitchen remodel—we are finally doing the backsplash and getting a new espresso machine and some high-end cookware. The budget is close to $3,200 and I have about 52 items sitting there ready to go.
Then it hit me that Im still logged into my old personal gmail account instead of the new Amazon Household account I set up with my wife last week for the shared rewards and prime benefits. I really dont want to have to manually search for every single one of these items again because some of them were like specific weird hardware pieces and lighting fixtures that took forever to find. I checked the settings and tried looking for a share button or maybe a way to turn the cart into a public list but I cant find anything that works. Is there actually a way to just move the whole cart over to a different login or am I gonna have to spend my whole Sunday night re-adding everything one by one? I tried googling it but most of the answers are from like 2018 and the UI has changed so much since then...
TL;DR: Unfortunately, Amazon still doesnt have a native transfer button for carts. You'll likely have to move everything to a list first or use an external workaround. Quick reply since I literally just dealt with this last month. Its honestly so frustrating that a tech giant like Amazon makes this so difficult. I had a similar disaster when I was spec-ing out a whole smart home hub setup. I had about 40 items—sensors, bridges, specific wiring—all sitting in my personal cart before I realized I needed the business tax exemption on my other account. I tried the whole 'Move to List' thing, but it was a total mess because half the specific hardware variants didnt port over correctly. Not as good as I expected from their UI at all. One thing that kinda works is using a dedicated tool like share amazon cart to export the list, but even then, you usually have to double-check the quantities. Its not as seamless as it should be. Before you spend hours re-doing this... are you mostly worried about losing the specific third-party sellers you picked for that hardware, or is it more about just not wanting to search for the item names again? Also, did you check if any of those fixtures are 'limited stock' items? Because moving them to a list can sometimes drop the 'reserved' status they have while sitting in a cart.
Stumbled upon this discussion and its driving me crazy too. In my experience with these big tech builds, missing out on rewards is basically throwing money away...
