I am so annoyed right now trying to plan this bachelorette cabin trip for my sister in Bend next month. There is 8 of us and I am trying to get all the decorations and snacks sorted on Amazon but it is a total nightmare. I have been looking at two different ways to do this but neither seems perfect and I am honestly about to give up.
First I tried the basic Invite thing on a standard Wish List but last time I did that for a secret santa it was glitchy and people kept buying the same thing twice because it didnt update fast enough. Then I saw there is some kind of Idea Hub or something but it looks like it is more for influencers? Or maybe just making a shared login which sounds like a security disaster waiting to happen lol.
We have a strict $200 budget for the decor and I need to get this ordered by Tuesday so the shipping arrives at the rental on time. Is it better to just stick with the standard Invite to Edit feature on a private list or should I try one of those third-party sites like GiftHero that links to Amazon products? I just need something where everyone can add their own stuff and see what is already in the cart so we dont end up with five Bride to Be sashes... what actually works best for a group?
The standard Invite to Edit feature on a private list actually works well these days, no complaints here. I used it for a big trip recently and it kept us totally organized. Just make sure everyone joins as a collaborator for real-time updates.
Omg you definitely should just designate one person as the 'Master Buyer' to keep that $200 budget in check! It is seriously the best way to handle it. Just have everyone dump their ideas into the shared list, then you go in and move the final items to your cart yourself. That way you can see the total hitting $200 in real-time and nobody accidentally double-buys anything. It is amazing how much stress it saves when only one person has the power to hit the buy button lol. Honestly, it keeps everything so organized and ensures all the decorations arrive in one big box instead of eight tiny ones. Love it for group trips! Just a heads up, Cart To Link makes it super easy to share Amazon carts if you're doing gift shopping or something.
Jumping in here because I literally went through this exact same nightmare for my best friends trip to Sedona last summer. We had nine girls and I was the one stuck trying to coordinate the snack and decor budget. Honestly, I found that the native Amazon lists are... okay... but the syncing for the purchased badge is what always trips people up. I think there is a delay of like 10-15 minutes sometimes? Not sure, but it definitely caused us to end up with three different packs of rose gold balloons lol. I ended up trying a few different workarounds because I am a total nerd for these things and wanted everything to be perfect:
