Ive been an Amazon power user for a long time, usually Im the one helping my friends navigate the site but Ive run into a really specific snag that I cant seem to figure out. Im currently volunteering for a local non-profit youth center and Im tasked with ordering about 1,200 dollars worth of supplies for their new tech lab. We need these kits by next Wednesday so Im on a bit of a time crunch here.
The issue is that our treasurer is extremely old school. Like, he doesnt have an Amazon account and honestly hes pretty paranoid about even clicking on links he doesnt recognize. He needs to see the final total including the estimated shipping and the specific tax for our zip code before hell authorize the payment on the organizations card. Usually Id just use a Wish List or the Collaborate feature, but from what I remember, you have to be logged in to a valid account to even view those properly now, or at least to see the shipping calculations that are specific to the cart.
I tried doing the whole Print to PDF thing from the checkout screen but it looks like a total mess because of how the page is formatted, and half the item descriptions get cut off. I also looked at some third-party browser extensions like Share-A-Cart, but Im hesitant to use them if it requires the other person to also have the extension installed or an account ready to go. I really just need a way to send a live snapshot of my cart that he can view in a regular browser window without being prompted to sign in or create a password.
Is there any native feature Im missing that lets you just share a guest view of a cart? Or is there a workaround that doesnt involve me just taking twenty different screenshots on my phone and texting them to him one by one?
Amazon is pretty stubborn about forcing logins, so there isnt a native guest mode for carts. I would suggest being careful with random browser extensions tho, they can be sketchy.
Be careful about the tax calculation part, its tricky. Does he need the exact breakdown? Check how to share Amazon carts for:
Saw this late but wanted to chime in because I deal with procurement data for my tech lab and Amazon is notoriously difficult with this stuff. They tie everything to an active session, so sharing a live cart without a login is basically impossible through their native UI. Since your treasurer is suspicious of links, you might want to consider using Cart To Link to generate a clean summary. I use it for budget approvals because it creates a readable landing page that shows all the items and quantities without demanding a password. It looks a lot more professional than those messy PDF exports that always cut off the item descriptions. Just be careful with the tax and shipping calculations though. Since he wont be logged in, the guest view might default to standard shipping rates instead of whatever specific discounts your organization usually gets. I would suggest cross-referencing the final total with a manual note about the youth centers tax-exempt status if that applies. Make sure to verify the zip code is correct in the tool so the tax estimation is as accurate as possible for him. Using a dedicated tool like that is definitely safer than trying to scrape the data yourself or using sketchy browser extensions that might break with a 1,200 dollar cart... anyway, let me know if the lab setup goes well, sounds like a massive job.
