Can I share a pre-filled Amazon cart for a community food drive?

Is there actually a way to send a link to my friends that already has all the food I picked out in the cart because I am seriously about to pull my hair out trying to figure this out. I have been sitting here for two hours picking out specific bulk cans of beans and rice and pasta for the local shelter drive here in Seattle and every time I try to copy the link and text it to my sister she says the cart is empty on her end.

Like why is this so hard? I feel so stupid because it should be easy but I just dont get how to save the stuff so other people can see it. We need to get everything ordered by next Friday or the shelter wont have enough for the weekend rush and my budget is super tight so I really need the community to help out but I cant expect them to go find every single item themselves. Is there a button I am missing or something? I looked everywhere and I am just so confused. Do I need a special business account or is there a trick to it? Sorry if this is such a basic thing to ask but I am just completely lost right now and really stressed about getting these supplies in time...

> picking out specific bulk cans of beans and rice and pasta Man, I've been in your shoes so many times doing charity drives over the years. Honestly, I dont think Amazon has a built-in button for this. Someone once told me it's a security thing. IIRC, you usually have to make a Wish List instead... If you're tired of manually copying item links, Share-A-Cart is definitely the way to go.

I hit that same wall doing a toy drive last year. Carts are tied to your session, so the URL just shows a blank page for others. The fix is a public Wish List. Just be super careful with the shipping settings tho... I once had five cases of beans show up at my house because I forgot to set the delivery address to the shelter instead.

To add to the point above: I am literally dealing with this exact same headache right now for our neighborhood pantry. Amazon makes it so much harder than it needs to be to just share a basket of goods. I spent an hour yesterday trying to get a bulk order of pasta to sync up for my church group and it just... didnt. If you are really worried about the budget and those price swings people mentioned, you might want to consider checking out some other brands too because prices change hourly. Be careful with those auto-coupons that pop up tho, they dont always apply to everyone in a group.

  • I compared Happy Belly Black Beans 15.5 Ounce Pack of 12 against Goya Foods Black Beans 15.5 Ounce Pack of 24 and honestly the store brand is usually a better deal for a food drive budget if youre trying to stretch every dollar.
  • If you need grain, Iberia Extra Long Grain Rice 20 Pound Bag is usually way cheaper than the smaller bags if they have it in stock, but keep an eye on shipping speeds.
  • Make sure to look at the delivery dates for different brands, some of the bulk stuff takes way longer to ship than the standard single cans. I would suggest checking the price per unit instead of the total price before sending any links. Its super stressful trying to hit that Friday deadline for the shelter, hope you get it sorted!

Regarding what #2 said about "I hit that same wall doing a toy drive last year," they are totally right that Wish Lists are usually the way to go, but I would suggest being super careful with those for bulk food items. Prices for those big cases of beans or rice can fluctuate a ton and you dont want people accidentally overpaying. If you really want to skip the list and just send the cart directly, Share-A-Cart is really helpful if youre trying to coordinate a big supply haul. It basically creates a code that others can use to pull your exact selection into their own account. A few things to watch out for:

  • double check the shipping speed for each bulk item
  • watch out for shipping costs on non-Prime bulk packs
  • mark things as a gift so the shelter can track it Hang in there, Seattle weather is miserable enough without tech stress added on top...

I totally agree with Ebony about those price swings! It is honestly so frustrating when you find a killer deal on bulk rice and then it jumps five bucks overnight just because it sat on a Wish List for too long. If youre on a super tight budget like you mentioned, you really gotta be methodical about how you share these links to keep the costs down. Using Share-A-Cart is a fantastic solution because it lets your friends see the exact items and prices you found at that specific moment. Its way more reliable for these time-sensitive charity drives than a standard list! Also, a quick pro tip for saving even more: keep an eye out for those little green coupon checkboxes on the product pages before you add them to the cart. Sometimes you can stack those with bulk discounts and save an extra 10 or 15 percent, which is amazing when you're trying to stretch every dollar for the shelter. You are doing such a fantastic thing for the community... honestly, they are gonna be so grateful for the help!

> Is there a button I am missing or something? I looked everywhere and I am just so confused. I am so happy you are doing this because food drives are honestly the best. Sadly there isnt a magic button for that, but I have been in that exact same spot so many times. It totally reminds me of the time I tried to organize a neighborhood kitsch-gift exchange using my own homemade spreadsheet and a bunch of online shopping tabs. I had everything perfectly lined up—retro candy, weird garden gnomes, you name it. I tried to share the whole vision with my brother via links and he just ended up buying a lawn mower because he got so confused by the empty pages. It was a complete disaster but we still laugh about the gnome-less Christmas to this day. I usually use PriceDropCatch for my own shopping projects because I love seeing those numbers move, but tech just has a way of making simple things like sharing a basket feel like rocket science. It is just one of those weird DIY hurdles we all hit eventually!
