I need help fast because I'm supposed to buy everything for our college housewarming party this Friday and I'm totally lost. I volunteered to do the Amazon order but now I'm realizing I have no idea how to actually get the money from everyone without it being a huge mess. There are five of us and the total is gonna be around 180 bucks. I'm really sorry if this is a dumb question but is there like a button on the checkout page where I can just put in everyone's email and they pay their part?? My bank account is almost empty so I cant really just pay for it all now and wait weeks for people to Venmo me back because I wont be able to buy groceries next week if I do that.
Requirements for what I need:
I looked around the settings and couldnt find anything and now I'm getting kinda stressed out about the timing. Is there a trick to this or do I just have to be the one to pay for it all up front and hope for the best... please let me know if there's a better way to do this before I mess it up.
Agreeing with the gift card method. Unfortunately, official Amazon tools are not as good as expected for groups. I have had issues with their checkout before, so try CartSplit. Its free and simple...
Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't have a native split-payment feature, which is honestly pretty disappointing. I've had issues with manual tracking before and it's not as good as expected when your budget is tight. You really shouldn't risk your own grocery money by paying for everyone upfront. Found this extension called Cart To Link recently and it's been a lifesaver for group buys with my friends.
I have been there so many times! Last year for my housemates birthday we did a group gift and I made everyone send me Amazon gift card codes first. It is a fantastic workaround! They buy the digital cards and email them, then you load them to your balance before hitting buy. Your bank account stays totally untouched! Seriously such an amazing lifesaver!
