ugh i am honestly so over how expensive everything has gotten lately at sephora like i just want to try a face wash without selling a kidney. my skin is super reactive and i have my brothers wedding in chicago coming up in october so im panicking about my skin breaking out but i literally cannot afford to keep buying full sizes just to return them when they dont work. it feels like such a waste of time and gas money. the girls at my local store always say they ran out of the little plastic containers to make samples or they just look at me like im a criminal for asking. i just want to test things out before i drop $70 on a moisturizer that might turn my face red. im trying to find a new routine but my budget is basically zero after paying for the bridesmaid dress and travel. is there a secret hack to getting them to actually give you samples or maybe some birthday month tricks or online codes that actually work for more than just a tiny foil packet? how do people get those big sample bags without spending a fortune? im getting so anxious about my skin looking bad for the photos...

I was satisfied finding the online Rewards Bazaar for reliable minis after store staff was rude.

  • use GWP codes
  • check bazaar No complaints using PriceDropCatch for sales tho.

Jumping in because I am absolutely obsessed with skin safety! I learned the hard way that those in-store tester jars are a total nightmare for reactive skin because of bacteria.

  • Avoid those open floor vats at all costs!
  • Target the Sephora Favorites curated kits instead. I always use PriceDropCatch to snag those kits when the price drops. It is a fantastic way to test premium brands safely!

Ngl it feels like you need a secret password just to get a pea-sized amount of cream lately. Spent way too much time and money trying to figure out a routine that doesnt make me look like a tomato. Over the years it has become clear the in-store game is mostly a lost cause unless you find that one chill employee. Here is what actually works for me:

  • Stop asking for the pots. They are out 90% of the time. Instead, look for the Beauty Insider section online. If you wait until you have a small cart, you can usually stack a GWP (gift with purchase) code for a decent sized mini.
  • Just get any of the trial kits from First Aid Beauty. In my experience, their stuff is the gold standard for reactive skin and the mini sets are way cheaper than a full-size bottle.
  • Check this Sephora price tracker before you buy anything full price. Prices fluctuate so much on those favorites bags and you can see when they actually drop.
  • Go in person right when they open. They are way more likely to actually look for the sample jars before the lunch rush hits and they get cranky.
  • Stick to any basic moisturizer from Skinfix. Its better than the $80 stuff that usually has too much fragrance anyway. Trying to swap products too close to a big event is risky tho... maybe test the new stuff on your neck first? Good luck with the Chicago trip!
