Ugh so my boss is retiring this Friday and I somehow got stuck being the one to organize the whole office send-off. We are in Chicago and have a decent budget of about 500 bucks to get all the decorations and snacks and a big gift but honestly coordinating 12 people is driving me insane. Everyone has different ideas for what kind of streamers we need and what snacks we should get and my Slack is blowing up with links to different Amazon pages.
I really need a way for everyone to just dump their stuff into one single cart so I can just hit buy on the company card and be done with it. I have been googling this for an hour and I am so confused. I saw something about Amazon Household but from what I can tell thats really just for sharing Prime with your spouse or kids and I am definitely not trying to link my personal life or my coworkers to my actual account settings like that. Then I saw people talking about the Share a List feature which sounded promising until I realized its just a list. Like I would still have to go through and manually add every single item from the list to my cart one by one which sounds like a total waste of time when I am already on a super tight deadline to get this stuff delivered by Thursday night.
I also saw some random chrome extensions that say they can do it but our IT department is super annoying about what we can install on our work machines so I really need something official. Is there actually a built in feature on the Amazon site or the app where I can just start a group cart and send a link to my team so they can add their own stuff directly? Or am I just stuck doing this the old fashioned way and copying and pasting links all night...
> Is there actually a built in feature on the Amazon site or the app where I can just start a group cart and send a link to my team so they can add their own stuff directly? Honestly, Amazon lacks a native real-time synchronization feature for carts! It is a massive technical oversight. I personally use Share-A-Cart to solve this protocol issue. It is amazing! It generates a unique ID that lets others push items directly into your session. It works flawlessly for high-speed coordination and is way more efficient than lists!
Regarding what #1 said about "> Is there actually a built in feature..." - sadly, there really isnt. I tried using their official Business tools once and it was just a clunky, disappointing mess. Its honestly frustrating how Amazon hasnt fixed this yet.
Unfortunately, you're probably gonna be stuck copying and pasting. I had issues with their official lists recently where items just disappeared, so it's really not as good as expected and honestly pretty unreliable for big groups. Your best bet for that $500 budget is to have everyone send you the exact ASIN numbers from the product descriptions. It makes searching way faster than links and helps avoid ordering the wrong size streamers or whatever. Chicago weather has been so weird lately, I was actually looking at some heavy-duty space heaters on Amazon because my buildings heat is so spotty. My cat usually just sits right on the vent and hogs all the warmth while I'm trying to work... it's kinda cute until my toes go numb. Anyway... just make sure you check the delivery dates for those snacks because Amazon Fresh can be finicky with those delivery windows in the city. Hope the party goes well!
