Seriously what are the must-have travel accessories for the Canon EOS R6 V because im about five seconds away from leaving this thing at home and just using my phone. I spent all this money on the body and some glass and honestly im just so frustrated with how much of a literal pain it is to carry around all day. I took it out for a test run last weekend in the city and my neck is still killing me from that thin basic strap and i ran out of juice way faster than i expected which is just great when youre trying to actually learn a new system.
Im heading to Tokyo and Kyoto in about three weeks and i really dont want to be miserable the whole time lugging this thing around but right now it feels like a chore instead of fun. I have about 500 dollars left in my budget for accessories and i need things that actually make the experience better and not just more weight to carry. I was looking at those peak design clips but i dont know if they actually work or if its just hype and i definitely need a better solution for batteries since I only have the one it came with. Is it worth getting the official ones or can i get away with the off-brand stuff without the camera exploding or something?
Im just tired of the cable mess and the weight and feeling like im wrestling with the gear instead of taking photos. If anyone has a specific setup for the R6 V that keeps things light and quick id love to hear it because right now im just annoyed every time I pick it up and i really want to enjoy this trip. Do people actually use those screen protectors or are they a waste of time? I just want to be able to walk 20k steps a day without wanting to throw the whole setup into a river lol. Any ideas on how to make this thing actually portable for a three week trip...
I have been shooting with the R series for years and honestly the stock strap is a torture device. For a trip like Japan you need to get that weight off your neck immediately. In my experience the Peak Design Slide Camera Strap Black is the industry standard for a reason because the padding actually works. If you want to go even further the Peak Design Capture Camera Clip V3 is genuinely not hype. It is the only way I can manage 20k steps without pain because it puts the camera on your belt or backpack strap so your shoulders do the work instead of your spine. Regarding batteries the R6 is power hungry so I suggest grabbing two Canon LP-E6NH Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Batteries. Third party ones often disable the high speed burst modes or give inaccurate readings which is a nightmare when you are out all day in Kyoto. For a bag that stays under the radar I have used the Bellroy Venture Sling 6L for years and it never looks like a camera bag. Screen protectors like the ULBTER Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Canon R6 are cheap insurance for when you inevitably bump into things in crowded subway stations.
I totally get the frustration. My first time in Kyoto I lugged a massive setup and regretted it by noon. Now I found a padded wrist loop works better for me since I just keep the camera in my hand.
