I just got this big Canon 5D Mark IV for my Zion trip in two weeks and honestly Im totally lost. I spent my whole $2000 savings on it so I dont have much left.

Sorry if this is dumb but what extra stuff do I actually need for mountains? Like filters or something?...

Honestly, landscape gear gets expensive fast. I've had issues with those cheap plastic filter kits in the past and unfortunately they just ruined my image sharpness. Not as good as expected at all... total waste of money. Since you're broke from buying that beastly 5D Mark IV, just stick to the bare essentials for Zion.

  • Hoya 77mm Fusion One Next CIR-PL - crucial for cutting glare on the red rocks, tho the ring can be a bit stiff sometimes.
  • Vanguard Alta Pro 263AB 100 Aluminum Tripod - its decent but honestly not as stable as Id hoped in high wind... still way better than nothing. You really need a tripod for those long exposures in the Narrows. Dont stress too much tho, that camera is amazing and you'll get great shots even with a basic setup. Holler if you need more help!
