Based on latest rumors, it should be announced in August.

tbh looking at the broader market research right now Canon is really feeling the heat from the Sony Alpha 6700 and especially the Fujifilm X-T5 which are just killing it in the APS-C segment. Historically Canon had a longer cycle for the 7D series but the mirrorless race is way FASTER and honestly they need to bring a stacked sensor to the Canon EOS R7 Mark II if they wanna stay relevant for wildlife shooters who hate that rolling shutter. If we look at the R6 to R6II timeline it was only about two years so a late 2025 release fits that pattern perfectly but it really depends on if they can get the thermals right on a higher-res sensor. If youre in a rush and need those pro specs today id almost say just grab a Fujifilm X-H2S for about $2,499 because it already offers that insane readout speed Canon is still working on but if youre locked into RF glass then yeah 2025 is the most logical bet based on how theyve been refreshing their mid-high tier bodies lately. They gotta make sure the autofocus algorithm is ported over from the R3/R1 tech or itll just be a minor spec bump that wont be worth the upgrade price anyway.

Honestly, late 2025 seems a lot more realistic than anything sooner, right? I’ve been through enough Canon launches to know that their 'Mark II' updates for the high-end APS-C line take their sweet time. But yeah, while we’re all waiting, honestly, don't get too caught up in the pre-order hype when it finally does drop. I’ve seen way too many people get burned by being early adopters because they value the newest tech over actual field reliability. Just a few things to keep in mind: * Initial firmware usually has some weird bugs that can cause lock-ups during critical shots.
* Thermal management is often 'optimized' in later production runs once they see how the sensor handles real-world heat.
* Battery drain can be surprisingly inconsistent on those first-batch units. So basically, if you’re using this for anything serious, it might be smarter to wait a few months after the launch. Reliability is everything, especially if you're shooting wildlife or sports where you can't just 'redo' the moment, you know???
