@Reply #13 - good point! Honestly, I've been through so many of these release cycles over the years and the hype always gets people way too stressed out. I think I saw a post on a Japanese blog saying late 2025, but IIRC there was also talk of a surprise announcement at a trade show. Not sure which is true yet... honestly nobody is 100 percent sure right now. In my experience, reliability is king. I remember when the first mirrorless bodies dropped and everyone was dealing with weird battery drain and card errors. It took a few months to iron things out. If you've got a deadline or a big trip coming up, sticking with what you know works is usually the smarter play anyway. I've tried many bodies at launch and it's always a bit of a rollercoaster till the first few firmware updates hit. Kinda makes you appreciate a boring, reliable kit, tho the new specs are always tempting.

Honestly, looking at the technical cycle, we're likely seeing a mid-2025 launch for the Mark III. Canon usually sticks to that two-and-a-half year gap for the R6 line. Just a heads up tho, dont get sucked into those sketchy pre-order sites or rumor blogs that promise early shipping. Huge red flag there. The biggest mistake I see folks make is dumping their current setup too fast. If you've got an R6 or even a Mark II, youre still holding a very capable tool. Wait for the actual benchmarks before committing your cash. Sometimes the incremental upgrades dont justify the launch price if you're looking at pure cost-to-performance. Better to wait a month post-launch and see if there are any overheating or shutter issues that need a firmware patch first anyway... it's just safer for your wallet in the long run.

Tbh I've been sitting back and just enjoying my current kit while everyone waits for the next big thing. I remember back when the R6 Mark II was first rumored, I actually decided to zig while everyone else zagged and snagged a used Canon EOS R6 for a steal. Best decision ever. It works well for everything I do and honestly I'm still super satisfied with the performance. No complaints here even a couple years later. My strategy has always been to wait for the new release to tank the price of the previous gen. Like, when the Mark III finally lands in 2025, I'll probably just hunt for a discounted Canon EOS R6 Mark II body. I managed to build a whole bag of solid glass, including the Canon RF 85mm f2 Macro IS STM, just by being patient and hitting the used market right when the hype for new gear was peaking. It's a way more chill way to enjoy the hobby without stressing the wallet... just gotta ignore the fomo sometimes.
