Hello everyone! I recently got my hands on the Canon EOS R5 Mark II, and I'm excited to start shooting with it. However, I'm a bit overwhelmed by the number of lens options available. I'm looking for recommendations on the best lenses that can maximize the camera's capabilities, especially for wildlife and landscape photography.

I would love to hear your thoughts on both Canon's RF lenses and any third-party options that work well with the R5 Mark II. Additionally, if you have any suggestions for versatile lenses that can handle both stills and video, that would be great too!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Canon RF lenses offer versatile options for photographers. The RF 24-105mm f/2.8 L IS USM excels in various styles with sharp images. The compact RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM is perfect for wildlife, while the RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM handles distant subjects with precision. Portrait photographers favor the RF 50mm f/1.2 L USM for its bokeh and low-light performance. For a budget-friendly wildlife option, the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG OS HSM performs well with an EF-RF adapter.

For the R5 Mark II, my top picks are:

  1. RF 24-70mm f/2.8L IS USM - The ultimate all-rounder
  2. RF 50mm f/1.2L USM - Best portrait lens, period
  3. RF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM - Perfect for sports/wildlife
All are expensive but worth every penny on this body.

If you're mainly shooting portraits, I’d go with the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2L USM. It’s a dreamy lens for portraits, producing beautiful background blur and fantastic subject isolation. The R5 Mark II will really help bring out the sharpness and color in your shots with this lens. The 50mm f/1.2L is also excellent if you prefer something a little more versatile!
