so im currently 32 weeks along and starting to panic just a little bit because we still havent pulled the trigger on the big stuff like the stroller or the car seat. we are living in seattle and honestly everything is so expensive here so im really trying to maximize these completion discounts as much as possible. i did some digging into amazon and target because those are the big ones obviously. i read online that amazon gives you 15 percent off but then i saw some random reddit thread saying there is a 2000 dollar limit on the total value of items you can actually apply that discount to. that sounds like a lot but with how much baby gear costs these days i feel like i could hit that limit pretty fast if im not careful.

then there is babylist which i thought was the way to go since you can add things from literally anywhere like etsy or small boutiques. but im really confused about how their discount works. if i add a stroller from a different site do i still get the 15 percent off from babylist? or is it only for the stuff they sell directly in their own warehouse? if it is only for their specific stock then it feels kinda pointless for the stuff i actually want.

here is what im trying to find:

  • at least 15 percent off total
  • something that doesnt exclude the high-end brands like uppababy or nuna since those are the ones we really need the deal on
  • a discount that i can use multiple times just in case i forget things in the first go
  • something easy for my mil to use because she is definitely not tech savvy at all

our goal is to save at least 300 to 400 dollars on the final buy out of the registry list before the baby gets here next month. has anyone actually done the math on which one saves you the most in the long run? i keep hearing conflicting things about exclusions and it is driving me crazy...

I just did the math on this for my sister. @Reply #2 - good point! Are you planning to buy the big gear all at once or spread it out?

  • Target offers 15 percent off, plus another 5 percent if you use a RedCard.
  • Amazons 15 percent works for 90 days, so you can do multiple orders.
  • Crate and Kids often has fewer exclusions for high-end strollers. You should try Share Product-it lets you pull items from like 50 different sites into one list.

Unfortunately, Babylist only discounts their specific inventory, which was a total letdown tbh. I spent hours analyzing gear specs and Nuna is usually excluded. Try Pottery Barn Kids instead.

I went through this exact process last year and you really need to be careful with the fine print because it can be misleading. For the brands you mentioned like Nuna and UppaBaby, they are almost always excluded from the completion discounts at places like Amazon and Target. I would suggest checking the brand exclusions list very carefully before you commit to one platform. If you go with Babylist, that 15 percent discount only applies to items sold directly in the Babylist Shop. Basically, adding a stroller from an outside boutique or a small shop wont qualify for the savings at all. It is a bit of a trap if you arent paying attention to where the item is actually coming from... Amazon is usually the safest bet for reliability but that 2000 dollar limit is very real. Once you hit that cap, the discount just stops working. I would suggest prioritizing your most expensive safety items like the car seat first to make sure they actually get covered by the discount. Also, make sure to check if the item is shipped and sold by Amazon or it might not qualify. For your mil, Target is probably the most reliable since she can just go into a physical store if she gets frustrated with the website. It is much less likely to cause a headache for someone who isnt tech savvy. If you are looking for a way to share links easily, check out Share Product, it works with Walmart and Target too.
