I’m looking for recommendations on the best gimbal stabilizer for my Canon R5C. I primarily shoot video—weddings, documentaries, and some travel content—so I need something reliable, versatile, and able to handle the R5C’s weight and balance. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!"

For your R5C, consider the DJI RS 4 Pro. It's a popular choice, offering good stabilization and wireless connectivity. While many gimbals work with mirrorless cameras, ensure compatibility with the R5C's weight and consider IBIS limitations. You might also research setups for VR180 content if that's part of your workflow.

DJI RS 4 Pro is the best choice. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=DJI+Stabilizer+Panasonic+Fujifilm+Transmitter&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50

RS 4 or RS 4 Pro, depends on which lenses you carry with.

Like someone mentioned, the RS 4 Pro is the standard choice, but you really gotta be careful with the R5C's physical depth. That internal fan assembly makes the body thicker than most mirrorless cams, so clearance on the tilt axis can get sketchy when you're balancing, especially if you have any cables plugged into the side. I would suggest comparing these two models specifically:

  • DJI RS 4 Pro: It features automated axis locks and a 4.5kg payload. It's solid for most RF glass, though the mounting plate can be a bit tight with the R5C's wider base. Make sure your cage doesn't add too much width or it might hit the motors.
  • Zhiyun Crane 4: This unit might be safer if you're using a heavy lens like the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM. It supports up to 6kg and the built-in balance indicators are helpful for quick lens swaps during documentaries. Be careful with your power management though. Since the R5C has such a high power draw, you should really use a high-output USB-C PD cable directly from the gimbal to the camera. If you rely on internal batteries, you'll be re-balancing the whole rig every 40 minutes when they die, and that's just a total nightmare during a wedding shoot...
