I'm trying to figure out which flash to grab for my T7 before a wedding shoot next month. I was looking at the Godox TT685II because the price is right but then I saw the V860III has that li-ion battery which seems better for a long day. My logic was that Godox is the way to go for value but then I remembered the T7 has that weird missing center pin issue on the hot shoe... so now I'm stuck thinking maybe I should just play it safe with a used Canon 430EX III-RT? Budget is like $150 max. Do the newer Godox models actually fire on the T7 or should I just stick to official Canon gear...

TL;DR: Get the Godox TT685IIC TTL Flash for Canon because it specifically supports the T7 center-pin-less shoe, unlike older third-party flashes. I remember helping a friend at a rehearsal where her older flash just wouldnt fire on her T7. It was super stressful because we didnt realize Canon had pulled that center pin stunt. I would suggest being very careful with used Godox gear because early units of the older models lacked the firmware to bridge that gap. If you can find a Godox V860IIIC TTL Li-Ion Flash for Canon within your budget, that li-ion battery is a total lifesaver for weddings. I hate carrying a pocket full of AAs that might overheat. But if you want total peace of mind without worrying about firmware versions, a used Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT is the safest bet, tho its a bit less powerful. Just make sure the Godox box specifically mentions support for the T7 before you buy.
