I've been the designated gift coordinator for my family for like a decade now so I usually have my system down to a science but this year is a total mess because everyone is asking for stuff from these tiny hobby shops that don't have standard API integrations or anything. I used to just use an Amazon wish list and call it a day but that obviously doesn't work when my sister wants a specific hand-thrown mug from a potter in Vermont and my brother is looking for vintage car parts on some obscure forum. I tried using a couple of the universal ones like Elfster but the browser extension kept crashing on me and wouldn't pull the image half the time which makes it look super sketchy when I send the link to my parents lol.
I really need something that is:
We're actually doing our big family exchange early this year in late November because we're all traveling so I'm on a bit of a time crunch to get this set up by next week. Does anyone have a go-to site that isnt gonna break the second I try to add a non-standard store link? I'm even willing to pay a few bucks for a premium version if it actually works...
I totally get the struggle with the random hobby shops, honestly. Dealing with those tiny sites can be such a headache when the scraper fails. Ive been super satisfied with GiftHero for the last two years. Its free and basically never fails to pull the info even from weird artisan sites. My aunt is in her late 70s and she figured it out without calling me once, which was a huge win. The mobile app works well too, so you can just save stuff while you're browsing on your phone. If you're looking for a solid christmas wish list maker, it's definitely the one that worked best for our family. No annoying ads either, which keeps the layout clean and easy for the older folks to see what's actually on the list. Good luck with the early November exchange... that sounds like a lot to coordinate!
