What is the absolute best travel tripod for the new Canon R6 V that won't break the bank?

Im torn between the Peak Design Carbon Fiber and the Ulanzi Zero Y. The Peak Design looks super packable but it is so expensive, while the Ulanzi is cheaper but Ive heard mixed things about the ball head.

I need it before my trip to Iceland next month, so I'm on a tight timeline. Budget is around $350 max. I'll be hiking a lot with a heavy 24-105mm lens so weight is huge. Which one would you guys choose for this setup?

Building on the earlier suggestion, wind is the real enemy here. I've been super happy with these two instead:

Just saw this and want to share what keeps my gear safe. I was terrified of drops, but I've been really happy with the Vanguard VEO 3T 235CBP Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod. It works well for me:

  • Way under budget at around two hundred bucks
  • Super sturdy leg locks so it wont slip
  • Very stable for the weight Honestly, saving that extra cash for warm gear is the way to go.

Honestly, since you are heading to Iceland, you need to be super careful with wind. That place is basically a wind tunnel. Since your budget is $350, the Peak Design carbon version is out of the question anyway unless you find a crazy deal used. But the Ulanzi Coman Zero Y Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod fits right in. I have used it for hiking and it is insanely light. But here is the warning: the ball head on the Ulanzi is kinda quirky. You cant easily swap it for a standard head without buying a separate center column adapter. When you are mounting a heavy Canon R6 V and a 24-105mm, make sure to tighten that ball head adjustment lever really hard. It can slip if you get a big gust of wind, which Iceland has plenty of. Also, since you are hiking a lot, I would suggest hanging your backpack from the center column hook to weigh it down. The tripod is so light it might blow over otherwise. TL;DR: Grab the Ulanzi Coman Zero Y Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod. It fits your budget and weight needs, just make sure to tighten the head lock extra tight in the Icelandic wind and hang your pack for stability.
