What are the must-have accessories for a new Canon EOS R5?

I just finally pulled the trigger on a Canon EOS R5, and I am beyond excited to get shooting! Since this camera is a major step up, I realized my old SD cards and batteries probably won't cut it for 4K/120p video or those high-speed bursts. I want to make sure I am fully equipped without overspending on things I dont actually need.

I am currently looking into CFexpress Type B cards and extra LP-E6NH batteries, but I am curious about other essentials like screen protectors or L-brackets. I have heard some people mention overheating, so should I look into a cage or external recorder too?

What are the absolute must-have accessories you would recommend for a new R5 owner to get the most out of this body?

Ok so, congrats on the R5!! Honestly its a total beast but it basically drinks power and eats storage for breakfast lol. For your situation, I would suggest focusing on media and power first before worrying about cages or external recorders. Here is what I recommend based on my experience:

Card Option A: SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO CFexpress Card Type B vs Option B: ProGrade Digital 160GB CFexpress Type B Gold. The SanDisk is the safe choice but pricey. I found the ProGrade Gold much better value. It handles 4K/120p perfectly and seems to stay cooler during long bursts.

Battery Option A: Canon LP-E6NH Lithium-Ion Battery vs Option B: Wasabi Power Battery 2-Pack for Canon LP-E6NH. Tbh, stay away from third-party batteries for this body. I tried the Wasabis but they wont always give you the max frame rate green icon. Stick with official Canon ones for full performance. Also, definitely grab the ULBTER EOS R5 Screen Protector 3-Pack and a SmallRig L-Bracket for Canon EOS R5 2976. Cheap insurance for a pro body!! Gl!!
