Ive been using my 5D Mark IV for local wedding gigs for years so I know the body inside and out but Im actually taking it on its first big international trip to Japan in three weeks. Usually Ive got a car or a studio to dump my gear in but now Im worried about the sheer bulk of it for 15-mile walking days. Im trying to figure out a way to keep the dual pixel AF goodness and that full frame look without my back killing me by day three. My budget for extra bits is around $500 and Im mostly worried about power and carry options.
What are the actually essential travel accessories for this beast that wont make me regret bringing it over a mirrorless setup?

Japan is amazing but those 15 mile days are no joke with a 5D Mark IV! Honestly, the absolute life saver for me was ditching the neck strap and getting a Peak Design Slide Camera Strap. It distributes the weight across your shoulder way better so you arent feeling like a hunchback by lunch. I love it because you can clip it off instantly when you want to use a tripod or stick it in your bag. Also, since youre walking all day, you gotta have a way to charge on the move. I swear by the Anker 737 Power Bank PowerCore 24K paired with a dual USB battery charger. It saves you from hunting for outlets in tiny ramen shops. Just keep that beast of a camera close to your body with a good sling and youll be totally fine! Enjoy Japan, the light there is fantastic!

^ This. Also, grab the Peak Design Capture Camera Clip V3 for your backpack! The Arca-Swiss compatible plate is amazing for swapping to a tripod quickly while you're exploring Tokyo!

Make sure to be careful with power. I tried relying on a Wasabi Power Battery 2-Pack for Canon LP-E6 in Kyoto once and they drained way faster than expected. I would suggest just sticking to the Canon LP-E6NH Lithium-Ion Battery instead. The OEM ones are pricey but they wont fail you, whereas the cheap ones are just too unpredictable... definitely dont want that happening when youre out all day.
