Heard the R8 price might be dropping. Anyone seen any good deals lately? Looking to buy one, but my budget is around $1200. Worth waiting, or should I just pull the trigger now?

I've had the Sony A7III for 5 years. Rock solid. Check used; might fit your budget.

Regarding the R8, check its rolling shutter performance specs. It's decent, but for $1200, consider a used Sony a7III. Its older sensor might actually give you better dynamic range for stills. Over the years, I've found better value buying slightly older, high-end used bodies than newer, budget models.

Honestly, $1200 is tight for the R8. I'd check the used market first. Unfortunately, new camera prices rarely drop THAT much. Consider a Sony a7 II instead; you might find one around $900. Image quality is still great, and leaves you budget for lenses. Is image stabilization a must-have for you?

Before chasing deals, consider the EOS R8's weight with larger lenses. A proper camera strap is crucial – a cheap one can fail, risking a drop. I've seen too many damaged lenses from inadequate support. Happy with my Peak Design strap; works well, no complaints after 5 years. Prioritize secure handling over saving $100.
