I am so excited because I am finally moving into my very first studio apartment in downtown Seattle next month! It is such a huge deal for me and I have been picking out all this cute stuff for the kitchen and bathroom like a retro toaster and some matching teal towels. My roommate and I have a strict budget of about 500 dollars for the shared things we need and I wanted to send her my whole cart so she can see everything I picked and tell me if she likes the colors or if we need to change stuff but I literally cannot find a share button anywhere on the screen. I feel so silly and I am sorry if this is a dumb question but I am really bad with tech stuff sometimes. I am looking at the desktop site on my laptop right now and I see the cart icon and all my items are there but where is the link to send it?

  • needs to be a quick way to show her the whole list
  • has to work on a normal computer since she doesnt use the app
  • hopefully allows her to edit it if possible

I have looked all over the top bar and next to the checkout button and I just dont see it... am I missing a hidden menu or something? I keep clicking around the subtotal area but nothing happens except it tries to make me pay for it already lol. If anyone knows where the button is hidden please let me know...

Amazon does not actually have a native share button for the cart because the contents are stored in your specific account session data. Technically speaking, there is no static URL for a live cart since it is tied to your encrypted login ID. If you need to show her the items, here are a few technical workarounds:

  • Move everything to a Wish List. You have to click the add to list button on each product page, but once the list is finished, you can set it to shared and send her the link. This allows her to see everything in one place.
  • Use a third-party tool like Cart To Link. It is a decent option because it basically scrapes your cart data and generates a temporary link that anyone can open on a desktop browser.
  • Screen share via a video call. If she is on a computer, you can just show her the screen and talk through the budget in real time. As for the items you mentioned, just get any kitchen gear from Hamilton Beach. You really cant go wrong with their basic stuff for a first apartment. For the linens, honestly just go with any towel set from Utopia Bedding. The quality is acceptable for the price and it should fit well within that 500 dollar limit. It basically depends on how much you want to prioritize aesthetics over durability, but those brands are usually safe bets for a studio setup.

I've been thinking about your struggle all afternoon because honestly, I went through the exact same headache when I was helping my sister deck out her guest room last year! We were hunting for those perfect sage green accents and trying to stay under budget. It's so frustrating that Amazon keeps the cart strictly private, right? I spent forever clicking around the subtotal area just like you did lol. Since you're on a desktop and need a quick way for her to edit things too, here is what I've learned after years of being an Amazon addict:

  • Forget the cart icon for a second. Go to Account and Lists at the top and create a Shopping List.
  • Once you move your items there, look for the Invite button. You can send her a link that lets her actually edit the list with you!
  • This is the best part: she can add her own things or swap colors so you guys stay under that 500 dollars limit. It's such a life saver for roommates.
  • If you find the list settings a bit confusing, I actually found this cart sharing guide super helpful for seeing the different ways to bypass those weird privacy settings. It’s such a relief once you get a collaborative list going. You can see the total price update in real-time as you guys mess with it. It totally saved my sanity during my last big move. Seattle is gonna be amazing, you're gonna love it!

Oh my gosh, congrats on the new studio!! Moving is just so exciting and Seattle is a fantastic place to be! I totally remember being in your shoes when I was setting up my home office last year. I was so worried about overspending or getting the wrong stuff, so I tried to find that same share button for hours... honestly it was so frustrating because Amazon just doesnt have a simple way to send your cart on the desktop site! I kept clicking near the checkout button and was terrified I was gonna accidentally spend hundreds of dollars before I was ready. I ended up just making a Wish List, but even that felt clunky and didnt let my husband edit anything. It was a total mess tbh. Personally, I prefer using Cart To Link because it's way more professional than just texting photos of my screen.
