What is the absolute best way to make a digital Christmas list that my whole family can see and use? I am so incredibly excited for the holidays this year because it is the first time in forever that we are all actually trying to coordinate properly, but we are spread out everywhere. I am in Chicago, my brother is over in London, and my parents are down in Florida, so we need something that works for everyone.

I am currently torn between using Elfster or maybe something like Giftful. Elfster seems like the classic choice and everyone knows it, but it feels like it is really geared toward Secret Santas and we just want to see each other's general lists. Giftful looks a lot cleaner and more modern which I love, but I am super worried that my 70-year-old aunt is gonna find it too confusing to navigate on her phone.

My third option is honestly just a shared Google Sheet since everyone knows how to type in a box, but it feels kinda clunky and you cant really hide who bought what without spoiling the surprise, right? I need something totally free since half my cousins are broke college students and I really want to get this set up by Sunday so people can start adding stuff before the big Black Friday sales hit. Is Elfster too spammy with ads or should I just stick to the basic Google Doc route?

I dealt with this last year with my family spread out all over. Honestly, I am super satisfied with Giftful because it is way cleaner than the alternatives. My uncle actually deleted half the Google Sheet we tried using before, so definitely avoid that route if you want surprises.

  • Elfster is way too spammy with ads.
  • Giftful is easier for my 70-year-old parents. It works well and its totally free.
