I am so hyped because we finally closed on our first little house in Austin and our housewarming is coming up in August! Family is already bugging me for a list of stuff we need since we're basically starting from scratch with the yard and kitchen.

I've been looking at stuff like Elfster but it looks like it's mostly for Secret Santa stuff where you don't know who you're buying for? I just want a plain old list where I can add links from different stores like Amazon and Target and maybe even some local shops. Then I saw GiftHero or something like that but some reviews said the browser extension is super buggy and I dont want to frustrate my aunt who can barely use her iPhone lol.

It needs to be totally free because honestly we're broke after the down payment and I don't want my family having to pay for a subscription just to see what kind of blender I want. Is there something out there that lets me just throw links together and share a single URL that actually works well for people who arent tech geniuses?

Congrats on the house in Austin! That is such a huge win, though I know how much of a headache moving actually is. When we did our big renovation last year, I went through a bunch of these sites because I was paranoid about my data and didnt want my older relatives getting confused by annoying pop-ups.

  • Amazon has that universal registry thing, but it kept trying to push their own products over the local shop links I added. It felt kinda pushy and the interface was just cluttered with stuff I didnt want.
  • MyRegistry was another one I tested. It is powerful, sure, but there were so many ads and syncing errors that I knew my mom would just give up and buy me another random toaster I didnt need. Honestly, I ended up being most satisfied with this wishlist tool because it just felt clean and safe. No weird browser extensions that crash your computer or buggy apps, just a simple way to grab a link and post it. It was totally free which was the main thing for us since we spent every dime on the house. I really liked that my aunt could just click the link on her phone and see everything without needing to create an account or anything weird. Safety is a big deal for me and it didnt feel like it was scraping my contacts. No complaints at all with how it handled the niche links from the local stores we love.

To add to the point above: im really satisfied with this wishlist tool since it feels safer and simpler than technical apps.

  • totally free
  • very reliable
  • simple links No complaints!

  • You might want to consider ShareProduct since its API aggregates multi-site data efficiently.
  • Make sure to verify mobile UI responsiveness for older handsets.
  • Be careful about latency during metadata scraping.
