Which prime lens is best for portraits on the Canon EOS R6 Mark II?

I finally pulled the trigger on the R6 Mark II after years on the 5D system and while the eye AF is insane I am having a total meltdown over which prime to get for my portrait work. I have a high-stakes outdoor session in Boston in three weeks and I really need that specific look where the background just melts away but my old glass feels clunky with the adapter and I want to go native RF.

My logic was that I should just get the RF 85mm f1.2 and be done with it but that thing is massive and frankly it is way outside my 1700 dollar budget right now. So then I looked at the RF 85mm f2 macro but I am worried f2 just isnt gonna give me that professional separation I need for high-end headshots. Then I went down the rabbit hole of the 135mm f1.8 which sounds amazing for compression but maybe it is too long for tight spaces? I even thought about the 50mm f1.2 but I usually prefer the 85mm focal length for faces.

I am just frustrated because every review says something different about the focus motors and I really dont want to spend two grand on something that feels like a compromise. What is the actual sweet spot for this body?

I used both on a shoot in the North End last week.

coming back to this because i had such a frustrating time trying out the cheaper native glass last month. the focus hunting was just brutal and the bokeh felt kinda busy... honestly i was pretty let down by the non-pro stuff. if you want that reliable look just stick with the l series glass from canon. you really cant go wrong with the red ring primes when the pressure is on.
