So I finally upgraded to the Rebel T7 after using an old T3i for years and I just realized something super annoying. I was looking at getting a cheap Yongnuo for my cousins wedding in Seattle next weekend but then I read online that Canon actually removed the center sync pin on the T7 hot shoe?? Im kinda panicking because my old manual flashes wont work now and I have like a $150 budget max. I was thinking maybe Godox but I dont know if the firmware fix actually works for the T7 specifically or if I need an official Canon one like the 430EX. My logic was to stay cheap but now I feel like I might be forced into the expensive stuff... does anyone know which brand actually fires on this weird shoe?

OMG dont panic!! You can totally find awesome gear on that budget. I love these two for being super reliable and budget-friendly:

The lack of a center sync pin on the T7 is definitely frustrating. You dont need to buy Canon brand to fix this tho. The Godox TT685II-C TTL Flash for Canon is specifically updated to work with that hot shoe.

  • GN60 guide number
  • full E-TTL II support
  • 2.4GHz wireless transmission It fits your 150 budget. The Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT Flash is the official option, but the specs are basically identical for more money.
