Which external flash is best for a Canon Rebel T7?

I've been shooting on my T7 for over a year now mostly doing landscape stuff but I'm doing a friends baby shower next month and realize the pop-up flash is just gonna wash everything out. I was about to buy a cheap Yongnuo off a buddy until I realized my camera is one of the ones missing the center sync pin on the hot shoe... seriously why did Canon do that lol.

Now I'm worried about compatibility issues with third party stuff. I really need TTL support because the lighting in the venue is gonna be all over the place and I'm not fast enough for full manual yet. I'm trying to stay under $150 if possible. Which external flash should I get that actually works with the T7 hot shoe?

Yeah, that missing pin was such a dirty move by Canon tbh. I've spent way too much time troubleshooting gear for friends who ran into the same issue. Over the years, I've found that Godox is really the only third-party brand that took this problem seriously and actually updated their tech to play nice with the T7. If you want reliability for that baby shower without breaking the bank, here is what I'd look at:

Godox V350C Li-ion Battery Mini TTL Flash for Canon is my top pick for you. It's right around your budget and uses a rechargeable li-ion battery. You wont be fumbling with AAs in the middle of the party, and it recycles much faster than standard flashes.

Godox TT350C Mini TTL Flash for Canon is the move if you want to save some cash. It's basically the same flash but takes AA batteries. It's small, light, and the TTL works perfectly with the T7 hot shoe.

Godox V860III-C TTL Li-ion Flash for Canon is a bit of a stretch for 150 dollars new, but if you can find one used or on sale, jump on it. It has way more power for bouncing light off high ceilings if the venue is big. Honestly, stick with Godox for this camera. I've tried many different setups and they are the most consistent with the weird Canon shoe. Just look for the C version for Canon compatibility and you'll be good to go.

Like someone mentioned, that missing pin is a total slap in the face! Honestly its ridiculous that they pulled a stunt like that. It drives me crazy how these huge companies keep cutting corners while raising prices. Its such a scam to take away a standard feature just to mess with third party compatibility!
