What flash should I buy for my Canon Rebel T7 that wont break the bank?

I just got this camera and honestly the built-in flash makes everyone look like ghosts and has these weird shadows. I'm totally lost looking at all these numbers like TTL and GN whatever that means. I have a family reunion coming up next Saturday here in Ohio and I really need something better but my budget is strictly under $100 since I spent all my savings on the camera body. I'm so scared of buying something that isnt compatible and frying the electronics or something...

Is Godox good? I saw that name on a blog but I have no idea where to start
