Finally got an R6 for some weddings I'm shooting in July but my budget is basically zero now haha. I've been looking at what to get and everyone says the EF-EOS R adapter is a must but I only have one old EF lens so my logic was maybe skip it? But then native RF glass is so pricey.
Also I'm seeing mixed things about batteries. Some say only the official Canon LP-E6NH works for the fast burst modes but they are so expensive. Can I just use third party ones or is that a bad idea? I have maybe $300 left for extras and I'm just lost on what's actually essential for RF vs just nice to have...
Im happy with these strap options for weddings:
Congrats on the R6! It is such a fantastic piece of gear for weddings and honestly, the eye autofocus is just amazing! Since your budget is tight, I would skip that adapter if you only have one old lens. Just grab the Canon RF 50mm f1.8 STM instead. It is super light and sharp for the price. Regarding the power issue, you definitely want the high speed burst for those aisle shots. I love the SmallRig LP-E6NH USB-C Rechargeable Camera Battery because it is way cheaper than official ones but still gets you that H+ green icon mode for fast shooting. Ngl, weddings are high pressure so dont forget dual cards. Pick up two SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB SDXC UHS-I cards to stay safe. That combo fits your $300 budget perfectly and covers the basics!
Just wanted to say thanks for everyone chiming in. Super helpful discussion.
