Looking for a reliable remote shutter for my Canon. Tired of blurry shots. Ideally something that won't break the bank. Budget's around $50. Any recommendations for a good, affordable option?

Yeah, honestly, that point about the electronics is a big one. I’ve been shooting with these bodies for years, and you really start to notice how the little things matter for long-term gear health. Like, I’ve had ports get loose or weirdly glitchy just from using budget connectors that didn't fit quite right after a few seasons of heavy use. Here are a few things I’ve picked up after owning a bunch of these remotes over the years:
* Wired ports are a bit of a weak point; plugging and unplugging constantly can wear them down after a few years.
* If you go wireless, those tiny button batteries always seem to die right when you're out in the field.
* I've heard some talk about third-party signals causing weird wake-up issues with the AF system, though I'm not 100% sure if that’s still a thing with the RF mount specifically. Basically, I think? you might even want to try the official phone app first. IIRC, it’s gotten way more stable lately than it used to be. It’s not as tactile as a real button, but it saves your ports from wear and doesn’t cost anything extra. Just a thought!

honestly, just go with jjc. you cant go wrong with their stuff. ive had one of their remotes for years and it still works like a charm even after being tossed around in my camera bag. they feel a lot more durable than the super cheap unbranded ones you find online. just pick up any jjc trigger that fits your camera and you should be set for a long time without spending too much. basically, it is the best balance of being cheap but actually lasting.

Hey! I tried a cheapo Neewer remote off Amazon last year. Unfortunately, the cord frayed pretty quickly. Around $15, so not a huge loss, but the lag was noticeable. It worked *okay* for static shots, but not as good as expected for action. Maybe look for something with better cable shielding? Still searching for the perfect one myself!

Wireless remotes can be finicky. A wired Neewer trigger is cheap, reliable, and avoids interference. Just be mindful of the cable length; 3 feet might be limiting.

Cheap wired remotes work fine. I've used a $15 one for 5 years. Just be careful with the cable.

Pixel remotes are popular. Check Amazon reviews; seems like solid value for around $30.

Hey! Forget cheap remotes that could short-circuit your camera's delicate electronics! Seriously, a faulty trigger signal can fry stuff. Consider a used Canon RS-60E3. Proven reliability, known voltage parameters, and MUCH safer for your camera's long-term health! I've seen too many fried boards from generic triggers. Be safe, shoot smart!
