I'm planning a trip through Southeast Asia and need recommendations for a lightweight gimbal compatible with my Canon EOS R8. Will be shooting lots of night scenes and street photography while constantly moving between locations. Battery life and portability are priorities as I'll be backpacking. Budget is around $500. Anyone using a gimbal with the R8 for travel? What's working well for you, especially for low-light situations?
The new released DJI RS 4 Mini. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=DJI+Stabilizer+Panasonic+Intelligent+Briefcase&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Youre a lifesaver honestly.
Seconded!
> sarah.phillips: "Seconded!" Regarding what sarah.phillips said about "Seconded!" - the group consensus here is definitely solid. In my experience over the years, I have found that for a trip as demanding as backpacking through Southeast Asia, you need a brand with a proven track record for motor reliability. I have tried many different stabilizers, and I have learned that the safest route is to stick with the market leader. Basically, just get any of the smaller stabilizers from DJI. You can't go wrong with their travel-focused gear. From my long-term ownership of their products, the software compatibility with the Canon R8 is usually seamless, which is vital when you are constantly on the move and thousands of miles from a repair shop. Sticking with that brand will save you a lot of headaches in the field.
100% agree
Been using this for years, no complaints
RS3 mini.
For your EOS R8 and travel needs, consider the DJI RS 3 Mini. It's compact, lightweight, and handles mirrorless systems well.
