honestly so frustrated with this r100 right now. i bought it because it was supposed to be tiny for my trip to rome next month but the kit lens is just... clunky? it sticks out way more than i thought it would and it keeps getting snagged on my jacket pocket. its driving me crazy because i wanted something i could just grab and go without a massive camera bag. i really need something actually slim, maybe a pancake lens if those even exist for this mount yet? im looking to spend maybe 350 bucks tops since i already spent way too much on the body and flight. what are you guys using that doesnt make this thing feel like a total brick...

Unfortunately, Canon hasnt exactly been knocking it out of the park with dedicated RF-S primes yet, which is super annoying for R100 owners. You are basically forced to use full-frame glass which adds unnecessary bulk and cost. If you want the smallest footprint, the Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM is your only real choice, but keep in mind that 1.6x crop factor. On your camera, it actually behaves like a 45mm lens, so it wont be wide enough for those tight Roman streets or massive cathedral interiors. Its a bummer because the lens is technically impressive with those three aspherical elements, but it lacks Optical Image Stabilization. Since the R100 doesnt have in-body stabilization either, your night shots might come out blurry unless you have steady hands. Its definitely the slimmest thing out there at under an inch thick tho. Just wish we had more native crop options honestly...

> i really need something actually slim, maybe a pancake lens if those even exist for this mount yet? Get the Canon RF 28mm f/2.8 STM. Its exactly what you're looking for. I've been using one for months and I'm very happy with it. Fits in a jacket pocket easily and stays under your 350 budget. Super sharp and way smaller than that kit lens. Works well for just about everything.

In my experience, when you're on a budget for travel, used is the only way to go. I've bought tons of gear from MPB over the years to save cash.
