So I just picked up a Canon RP because I wanted to take better pictures of my toddler but honestly I have no idea what I'm doing. The lens it came with is fine I guess but I really want that super blurry background look for portraits and I cant figure out which lens to buy. I've been looking online and keep seeing people talk about nifty fifties and 85mm and something about an adapter? Its all really confusing and I dont want to spend more than like 300 bucks if I can help it since I already spent a lot on the camera. I need something by next Saturday for a family picnic.

  • is there a lens that just fits without extra parts?
  • are the cheap ones actually good for portraits or just junk?

Sorry if these are really basic questions I'm just totally lost...

Unfortunately native glass is often overpriced, but the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM works for $170. TL;DR: f/1.8 aperture gives that blur without needing an adapter. It is honestly your only cheap option.
