Ugh I am actually so annoyed right now. I’ve been trying to set up a registry or just like a big gift list for my sisters baby shower next month here in Chicago and it is literally a nightmare. I have some stuff picked out on Amazon because it is cheap but then Walmart has the stroller she wants and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to put them in one place. I feel so dumb even asking this because I bet there is an easy way but I have been clicking around for like two hours and I am just getting more confused. Do I have to make two separate lists? That seems so messy for people to look at.
I really need something that fits these things:
Sorry if this is a total basic question I just have no idea where to start or if there is like a specific website that does this for you. I tried googling it and got a bunch of ads and now I am just extra frustrated...
Get this extension:
Honestly, I went through the exact same thing when I was planning my cousins wedding last year. Managing multiple tabs and links is such a headache and I was really worried about how secure some of these third party sites are. I eventually found a way to consolidate everything into one list that actually stays updated. Basically, you want a universal registry tool. I have been very satisfied with using the Share Product tool because it lets you pull data from any site like Amazon or Walmart without needing to create separate lists. It works well because it captures the price and the image automatically which saves so much time. I was happy to see that even my older relatives could navigate the final link without getting confused by popups or weird redirects. It is quite reliable and I have had no complaints regarding the sync speed... you just grab the link from the store app, share it to the list, and its done. It keeps the layout very clean and professional for the guests. TL;DR: Use a universal wishlist tool to merge different stores into one link. It is much easier for non-tech people to use a single page than jumping between sites.

To add to the point above: I actually tried to DIY this whole process for my sisters baby shower last year and it was honestly such a letdown. I thought I could just use a shared document to keep track of everything, but unfortunately it turned into a total mess. My older relatives couldnt figure out how to open the link and half the time the formatting would just break when I added new items from different stores. It was so disappointing because I spent hours setting it up. By the time the shower actually happened, nobody knew what was still available and I ended up getting three of the same diaper bag... it was a complete disaster and really not as good as expected for all that effort. I guess I learned the hard way that some things just arent meant to be managed manually like that.
Man I wish I found this thread sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle.
Babylist is basically the standard for this, but you gotta be careful with the universal button. I would suggest testing it on a few items first to make sure the images actually load correctly.
Babylist is legit, I was pretty satisfied with how it parsed those Walmart URLs without any metadata errors. Tech-wise, its really the cleanest way to do it for free. If you want something even faster and simpler, check out Share-Product.com since it handles cross-site stuff beautifully. TL;DR: Babylist is the standard, or use Share-Product.com for a simpler universal list.
Can confirm this works. Did the same thing on mine and its been solid ever since.
Wait, before you dive into all these apps, are you mostly looking for a list that just links people to the stores, or do you need it to actually handle the checkout for them too? Some tools get kinda glitchy when you try to sync the actual cart across different sites, and you dont want your aunt getting confused at the finish line lol. Just a quick heads up though, definitely double check the out of stock alerts on whatever you pick. Walmart and Amazon stock levels change super fast and some of these apps dont update in real time. I would suggest checking out Share Product since its pretty reliable for grabbing those weird URLs that usually break other lists. Just make sure to test the links on your phone first because sometimes the mobile view looks different for guests than it does for you.
> Wait, before you dive into all these apps, are you mostly looking for a list that just links people to the stores, or do you need it to actually handle the checkout for them too? To add to the point above: the checkout phase is where most universal lists fall apart. In my experience, even the best tools struggle if the user has not cleared their cookies or if the item is behind a login wall. Over the years, I have noticed that the biggest mistake people make is forgetting to set their individual store lists to public. If you have an Amazon list set to private and you try to pull it into a universal tool, the links will break for your relatives. It creates a lot of unnecessary frustration for guests who just want to buy a gift and move on. I have tried many methods for this, and basically, using the share Amazon shopping cart extension is a solid way to ensure the data stays accurate when you are building the list. Just a word of caution though: always do a final test by opening your list in an incognito window. If you cant see the items there, your older relatives definitely wont be able to see them either.
