Sorry if this is a dumb question but I have no idea where to start with price trackers. Im trying to buy back to school clothes for my kids at JCPenney next month.

My requirements:

  • Must be 100% free
  • Super easy to use (Im not good with tech)
  • Sends email alerts

What should I use?

Honestly, I used to get so overwhelmed trying to track sales manually, and I actually ended up downloading a sketchy browser extension once that messed up my laptop. Not doing that again. Over the years, I've learned to keep it simple and stick to web-based tools that dont need any weird downloads. Here is what I always look for now to stay safe:

  • No software downloads required
  • Clean privacy policy (no selling your data)
  • Straightforward email alerts without spam My current setup is pretty basic but it works wonders for retail sales. Actually, I've been using PriceDropCatch to keep an eye on some jewelry at JCP, and it's already saved me like $40.

Totally agree with the second reply about JCPs aggressive Cloudflare blocking! Its a nightmare for data scraping. If you want reliable specs, I love comparing these two free options:

  • Karma: Fantastic at bypassing blocks but has minor alert delays.
  • this JCPenney price tracker: Amazing 99.9% uptime, server-side tracking, and instant email alerts! Both cost zero dollars, but the second one is way faster.

Saw this earlier and wanted to chime in. Unfortunately, JCPenney uses aggressive anti-scraping tech now, so standard trackers dont work well and constantly fail to parse pages. Heres what actually works:

  • Visualping (checks visual changes, but free tier limits you to 5 checks a day)
  • Karma (formerly Shoptagr, bypasses their cloudflare block sometimes) If you get stuck setting them up, let me know and I can help you out!
