Is it cheaper to buy Sephora collection or name brands?

Im trying to prep my makeup bag for my sister's wedding in Chicago next month, and my budget is pretty tight this time around. I only have about 80 dollars to spend on a new foundation, concealer, and maybe a lip gloss if I can stretch it.

I did some digging online and saw a lot of people claiming the Sephora Collection is a total steal and basically the same quality as name brands like Fenty or NARS. But then I stumbled on some beauty blogs saying the packaging is actually way smaller, so the price per ounce is basically the same as the prestige brands. Plus some reviews said the foundation is super sheer so you end up using twice as much anyway.

I dont want to buy the cheaper option just to run out of it in two weeks or have to buy twice as much to get good coverage. So is it actually cheaper to buy Sephora collection in the long run, or should I just invest in name brands?

Unfortunately, Sephora's brand disappointed me with coverage issues. Are you looking for:

  • full coverage?
  • matte or dewy? I track prices using PriceDropCatch without needing an account.

@Reply #2 - good point! Honestly, I have this exact same dilemma and I've been trying to figure it out for months. I'm constantly torn between:

  • Buying Sephora collection and risking using twice as much product
  • Splurging on Fenty and having no budget left for lips It's just so frustrating. I honestly just use PriceDropCatch for this, it pings me whenever the prices dip on my favorites.

I've used the Sephora Collection for years and I'm really satisfied with their concealer, it works well and I have no complaints. Just be careful with their foundations. If you buy a formula that's too sheer, you'll end up using double the product to get coverage. I always check this Sephora price tracker to compare prices before buying to make sure it's actually a good deal.
