How do I get the absolute best deal on a Dyson Airwrap at Sephora? I am completely lost when it comes to Sephora points and sales and all of that, so sorry if this is a really basic question but I have no idea where to start.

I have been wanting one of these forever to help style my super thick, frizzy hair because normal curling irons just fry it, but the price tag is honestly terrifying. I live in Seattle and there is a big Sephora store near me, but I also shop online sometimes. My budget is pretty tight but I saved up some gift cards from my birthday, though I still need to find a way to get the actual retail price down as much as possible.

I need to get it by late September because my sister is getting married in October and I am a bridesmaid, so I want to practice using it before the big day. I keep hearing people talk about the Sephora VIB sale or Rouge member discounts but I literally have no idea how that works or when they happen. I think I am just a basic Insider level right now because I only buy makeup like twice a year. Can I still get a discount if I am not a high tier member? Or is there a way to level up quickly without spending a fortune first?

Here are a few things I am confused about:

  • Can you actually use the Sephora holiday coupons on Dyson products or are they excluded
  • Is it better to wait for a specific seasonal sale or do they randomly mark them down
  • Can I use my points to get a discount on it
  • Does Sephora ever sell refurbished ones for cheaper

I really want to make this work without breaking the bank completely so if anyone has a strategy for a total beginner on how to game the Sephora system for this, please let me know...

tbh it is so worth it! I finally snagged the one I got last year and its been a total game changer. Here is what I found out:

  • Dyson is usually excluded from the 10% off coupons for Insiders.
  • You can swap 500 points for a 10 dollar discount at checkout.
  • Check the Sephora at Kohls locations since they have different promos. Just a tip: PriceDropCatch is great for monitoring those items that might go on markdown unexpectedly.

To add to the point above: in my experience, Sephora is super strict with Dyson. I spent years trying to hunt for a random markdown and it literally never happens outside the big sales. One major warning tho... please dont buy a 'cheap' one from a random marketplace. I've seen so many girls get scammed with fakes that actually melt. Stick to Sephora for the warranty, even if it hurts the wallet a bit.

Timing is going to be your biggest issue here since the major Sephora holiday sale usually doesnt start until late October or November, which is after your deadline. I would suggest looking into the Sephora Credit Card if you are open to it. You typically get 25% off your first purchase once approved, and that is honestly the biggest discount you will ever find on a Dyson. Just be careful and make sure to pay it off immediately so the interest doesnt eat your savings. Here are a few technical things to keep in mind:

  • Dyson is almost always limited to one item per transaction during sales.
  • You can use Beauty Insider Cash (500 points for $10 off), but you usually cannot stack that with other percentage-off coupons.
  • Sephora does not sell refurbished units, so you wont find a deal that way through them.
  • As a basic Insider, youll likely only get 10% off during seasonal events unless you hit VIB status first. You might want to consider checking the site on holiday weekends like Labor Day. They sometimes do smaller buy more, save more events or point multipliers that could help you earn rewards for future hair products. If youre tired of checking manually, PriceDropCatch is pretty helpful for tracking Sephora sales.
