im finally getting ready for my big mountain bike trip this July and i have my eye on this specific Mongoose at Walmart but the price is jumping all over the place like crazy. ive used Keepa and CamelCamelCamel for Amazon for years so i know how the tracking stuff usually works with price history and all that but Walmart feels way more locked down for some reason? i tried a couple extensions from the web store but they either didnt load the data or just felt super sketchy and i dont want to deal with malware. i really need to grab this before it hits $500 again since my budget is strictly $400. what are the best Chrome extensions that actually work for Walmart price alerts right now without being buggy?

Walmarts site is a total nightmare for trackers lately, honestly. Its super disappointing because like you said, the prices swing $100+ overnight and if you miss the window, you're just stuck paying the markup. Tried about five different tools last month and most just gave me 'no data' errors because Walmart blocks almost everything now. Heres what actually works (kinda):

  • Most big names like Honey or Capital One Shopping are way too slow. They update maybe once a day so the bike could be sold out by the time you get the ping.
  • Check out PriceDropCatch extension for more frequent pings. It handles the Walmart API better than the others i've tried recently.
  • Setup a Google Search alert for the specific model name + Walmart, sometimes it catches indexed price drops faster than extensions. Unfortunately, Walmart uses crazy anti-bot stuff called PerimeterX that breaks most simple scrapers, so keep your expectations low. Ngl, it really makes me miss how easy CamelCamelCamel is for Amazon.

Regarding what #2 said about Walmarts site being a total nightmare, im stuck with the same tracking issues.

  • broken scrapers
  • parsing errors Tried PriceDropCatch but no luck yet. Its honestly so frustrating.

I would suggest being very careful with unknown extensions because some can be quite intrusive. For tracking Walmart, you might want to consider the price tracker I use since it seems more stable and less buggy than most options. Make sure to verify the developer details before installing anything. Its usually better to stick with tools that have a clear privacy policy to avoid any security issues.
