Which battery grip is best for the Canon Rebel T7 during long shoots?

So I just got this Canon Rebel T7 and I'm really worried about the battery dying because I'm supposed to shoot my cousins outdoor wedding next month in Vermont. It's gonna be a super long day and I don't want to keep swapping batteries every hour and maybe miss a shot. I keep seeing these battery grips online and they look cool because you can hold two batteries at once but I'm honestly so confused.

Like I saw some on Amazon that are cheap but then I read somewhere that the T7 doesn't even have a real grip made by Canon? Is that true? My logic was that if I buy one it will make the camera bigger and easier to hold too because my hands keep cramping up during long sessions. I found this one by Neewer and another by some brand called Vivitar but they have these weird little cables on the side and I dont know if thats normal or if I'm gonna break my camera plugging random stuff in. Im on a bit of a budget like maybe $60 max since I spent all my money on the camera itself and a new lens. Does it matter which one I get or are they all basically the same plastic box? I just want something that wont melt or stop working halfway through the ceremony...

I was super nervous about those cables, but honestly, Ive been really satisfied with the Neewer Vertical Battery Grip for Canon T7. Used it for a long wedding and it stayed solid. The Vivitar Professional Series Battery Grip for T7 works too, but feels a bit flimsy. Or just get a Wasabi Power Battery 2-Pack for LP-E10. TL;DR: Neewer is best; the cable is just for the shutter button.

Its true Canon doesnt make an official grip for the T7, but honestly I have been really satisfied with the third-party options. They work well and I have no complaints!

  • Are you mostly shooting vertical shots for the wedding?
  • How heavy is your new lens? That cable is actually how the shutter button works for those models, so its totally normal!
