Finally got the R1 for the track season in Eugene but my old EF 400mm is feeling kinda sluggish on the adapter at 40fps.
Ive got a 10k budget before nationals. Is the RF 100-300mm f2.8 actually the best move for pro sports now or should I stick to a prime?
Just catching up here... honestly, that 100-300 is a dream for track but its a massive investment. In my experience shooting track over the years, you find better value by being smart with your cash.
Unfortunately that 100-300 is overpriced and mine felt kinda clunky tho. Save some cash with these:
> Is the RF 100-300mm f2.8 actually the best move Spent so much cash trying to make those high-end zooms work for track last season. Honestly, it felt clunky and the results werent nearly as crisp as expected for that price. Ended up pretty disappointed... definitely didnt live up to the hype tho. My advice? Just go with Canon primes. They handle the AF on that body way better than any zoom ever will for track stuff.
