What are the must-have accessories for a new Canon EOS R6?

I just treated myself to a brand new Canon EOS R6 and I’m absolutely loving the autofocus so far! However, making the jump to mirrorless feels like a big step, and I want to ensure I have the right kit to get the most out of it. I’ve heard the R6 can be quite a battery hog, so should I stick with the official LP-E6NH or are third-party options reliable? Also, what SD cards are you using to handle the high-speed burst rates without buffering? I’m coming from an older DSLR, so I'm also debating if I need the EF-RF adapter immediately. Beyond the basics, what are your top 3 must-have accessories for this specific body?

This^ Also, for power: - Canon LP-E6NH: 12fps burst, pricey.
- BM Premium LP-E6NH Battery 2-Pack: Half cost, slower bursts. Basically, grab the Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R for ur EF glass tho!

Curious about one thing: what's your main subject? Ngl, knowing helps cuz you could save cash with a fantastic Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II ($50) if you don't need 20fps electronic shutter bursts!

> I’ve heard the R6 can be quite a battery hog, so should I stick with the official LP-E6NH or are third-party options reliable? yo, congrats on the R6! honestly, I've been shooting Canon for 20 years and jumping to mirrorless was literally the best move I ever made... even if it felt weird at first. i remember my first wedding shoot where i tried saving money on off-brand batteries and my frame rate dropped significantly—it was sooo frustrating!! For your situation, stick with the Canon LP-E6NH Lithium-Ion Battery Pack. third-party ones are fine for backups, but you NEED the genuine ones for the maximum burst speeds. Definitely get the Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R immediately; your old EF glass will actually feel brand new on this body. also, grab a SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II Card to keep up with that insane autofocus. lesson learned: dont skimp on power or speed if you want the R6 to perform like the beast it is !! gl!

Just catching up on this thread! I totally agree with the point about the subject matter—basically, your card needs are night and day depending on if you're shooting weddings or birds in flight. I've done a ton of market research into the third-party ecosystem for the R line, and it's honestly a mixed bag. The major third-party manufacturers are competing hard with Canon's proprietary stuff right now, but the compatibility isn't always 100% when it comes to the deep menu settings or those peak burst modes. To give you a better breakdown from a value perspective, I need to know a few more things: 1. What are you actually shooting most of the time? (Action, portraits, or maybe video?)
2. Are you planning on sticking with your old EF glass long-term, or are you looking to migrate fully to RF soon?
3. Do you usually find yourself shooting in extreme weather or mostly controlled environments? The market for power solutions and card tech varies SO much depending on those factors!
