What are the must-have accessories for a new Canon EOS R5 Mark II?

So I finally bit the bullet and grabbed the R5 Mark II after using the original R5 since launch. I thought I had all the gear I needed but honestly the more I dig into the specs the more I realize my old setup might not cut it anymore. Like the new LP-E6P batteries... I have like six of the older NH ones but apparently those wont support the high speed burst or the new AI features properly? That kinda sucks because those batteries arent cheap.

I am also looking at the cooling situation. I do a lot of hybrid work and I have got a big outdoor wedding shoot coming up in late September and I am worried about the heat if I am shooting 8K or even the high frame rate 4K stuff. Is the cooling grip actually worth the $400 or whatever it is or can I get away without it?

Here is what I am thinking about getting:

  • A couple of those new LP-E6P batteries
  • A faster CFexpress Type B card (my current ones are only 1700MB/s)
  • Maybe a better screen protector because the new LCD feels a bit different

I have about $800 left in the budget for accessories after the body purchase. Since I am mostly shooting fast paced events and some wildlife I really need to make sure I dont have any bottlenecks. What are the absolute essentials you guys are finding for this specific body that I might be overlooking? Especially stuff that changed from the first gen R5.

Unfortunately, my old cards were a total letdown for burst shooting. I had issues until switching to the ProGrade Digital CFexpress Type B Cobalt 165GB because the buffer lag was honestly just unbearable.

Man, I was stressing the exact same things when I moved from my R5! Honestly, that cooling grip price is just wild... I skipped it for my last shoot and survived 90-degree heat just by being smart with the high-temp shutoff settings. It saved me a fortune! I ended up putting that money toward a Lexar Professional CFexpress Type B Card GOLD Series 512GB which has been fantastic for those long 8K bursts without breaking the bank. To keep my budget in check, I did this:

@Reply #1 - good point! I have been very satisfied with the R5II performance once the bottlenecks are cleared. To stay under budget:
