Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger and upgraded to the Canon EOS R5, and I’m absolutely blown away by the autofocus and resolution so far. However, coming from an older DSLR, the transition to this mirrorless system feels like it requires a bit of a gear overhaul. I want to make sure I’m getting the most out of this beast without forgetting something crucial.
I’m currently looking into storage and I’m a bit conflicted. Do I really need to invest in those pricey CFexpress Type B cards right away, or can I get by with high-speed SD cards for landscape and portrait work? Also, I’ve noticed the battery life isn't quite what I'm used to; are the newer LP-E6NH batteries the only way to go, or are there reliable third-party options you trust?
I still have a bag full of EF glass, so an adapter is a must—is the basic EF-EOS R adapter enough, or is the control ring version a game-changer? Lastly, for those who shoot long days, do you find a battery grip or a specific L-bracket essential for the ergonomics?
For those of you who have been using the R5 for a while, what are the absolute 'must-have' accessories you'd recommend to a new owner to hit the ground running?
This^ I unfortunately had major buffer issues with SDs. try the SanDisk 128GB Extreme PRO CFexpress Card Type B. honestly the Canon Control Ring Mount Adapter EF-EOS R is basically a total game-changer!
Yo, I feel u! • Maybe ProGrade Digital 128GB CFexpress Type B Gold for speed over SD? • Canon LP-E6NH Lithium-Ion Battery vs cheap ones. Go with CFexpress tho, it's literally AMAZING!!
No way, I literally just dealt with this yesterday. Small world.
