Picked up the R5 Mark II for a doc shoot in Costa Rica next month but my old Rode Pro is giving me way more hiss than it did on my original R5. I've been shooting Canon for a decade but these new preamps feel different. What mics are you guys using to actually take advantage of that new digital shoe?

In my experience, that hiss is usually the analog preamps struggling with the R5 line. Since you want to use that new digital shoe, these are my go-to picks:
- Canon DM-E1D Stereo Directional Microphone for a clean, cable-free setup. It stays digital and kills the noise floor.
- Tascam CA-XLR2d-C XLR Adapter for Canon if you want to use pro XLR mics for your doc. Both bypass the 3.5mm port entirely.
