Im heading to Zion next week and really need a lightweight tripod for my Canon R6. Ive been looking at that Peak Design one but its way too expensive and the Manfrotto BeFree seems kinda heavy for a 10 mile hike.
Im stuck between weight and price what do you guys actually use for hiking with RF glass?
Building on the earlier suggestion, Ive spent way too much time obsessing over grams for hiking trips. If the Peak Design price tag makes you wince, check out the Sirui AM-225 Carbon Fiber Tripod with B-00K Ball Head. Its stupid light and actually fits inside most camera bags.
I agree that the Manfrotto weight is a huge drawback for Zion. Unfortunately, many portable options are not as reliable as expected when you are using heavier RF lenses. I had issues with leg stability on cheaper carbon fiber models. The Leofoto LS-284C Ranger Series Carbon Fiber Tripod is a better bet for safety. TL;DR: Avoid bulky Manfrottos; the Leofoto is lighter and much more rigid for R6 setups.
