What are the best wide-angle lens options for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II? I'm looking for lenses that offer excellent image quality, are weather-sealed, and suitable for landscape and architectural photography. Any recommendations on specific models and their pros and cons would be greatly appreciated!

The RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM is a good choice. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=Canon+RF+15+35mm+F2+8+USM&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50

I've had great success with the Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8L IS USM on my EOS R5 Mark II. Its sharp, wide view is perfect for landscapes and architecture. The consistent f/2.8 aperture and excellent stabilization make low-light shooting a breeze. It's my top choice for a versatile wide-angle lens that truly complements the R5 Mark II's capabilities.

Re: "I've had great success with the Canon RF..." - just catching up here and while that 2.8 is a beast, you might want to consider if you actually need to spend that much. Since you are doing landscapes, you're probably stopping down to f/8 or f/11 anyway. I would suggest looking at the Canon RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM. It is way cheaper and honestly more versatile for architecture.

  • Pros: That extra 1mm on the wide end is actually huge for tight indoor shots, and it weighs a lot less in your bag.
  • Cons: You've gotta be careful with the RAW files because the distortion is pretty wild until the lens profile kicks in. It also isnt as good for astro. If you're really pinching pennies, there is the Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM, but I'd probably skip it for an R5II. It is not weather-sealed and the corners are kinda mushy on such a high-res sensor. Dont risk your expensive body in the rain with that one. TL;DR: Buy the 14-35mm f/4L. It is better for architecture and much easier on the wallet than the 2.8 version.
