Which cage and handle setup is actually the best for an R5? I've got a big wedding shoot in NYC next month and my budget is strictly under $250. Stuck between the SmallRig Black Mamba kit or the Tiltaing setup.

SmallRig is light but Tilta looks so much more pro, what do you think?...

I've been reviewing the specifications for both kits. You might want to consider the total rig weight for a long wedding day. Are you planning on mounting an external monitor or a wireless transmitter setup? Make sure to evaluate these specific options:

Like someone mentioned, weight is usually the biggest regret photographers have halfway through a long wedding day. In my experience, the Tilta stuff looks super pro, but it can feel unnecessarily heavy once you add a mic and a monitor. I've tried many different setups over the years, and honestly, the best advice I can give is to prioritize a rig that protects your ports rather than just looking cool. If you want to stay under that $250 limit, I'd suggest looking at the SmallRig Basic Kit for Canon EOS R5 R6 R5 C 3150. It comes with a top handle and it is way more modular than the Mamba. Basically, you want something that lets you swap accessories fast when the lighting changes during the reception. Another solid choice is the Nitze Canon EOS R5 R6 Cage with PE19 Cable Clamp. Nitze makes incredibly sturdy cages that dont twist, which is a common issue with cheaper kits. I'd highly recommend checking out the CineD rigging guides or even just spending an hour on the B&H Explora blog. They have some great breakdowns of why certain handles work better for low-angle shots. Tbh, the R5 gets a bit warm, so a cage that allows more airflow around the body is a lifesaver. Don't forget to grab a decent SmallRig HDMI and USB-C Cable Clamp for R5 R6 Cage 2981 too... it is a cheap way to save your camera from a $500 repair bill if a cable gets yanked during the dance floor madness. Let me know if you need more help picking out specific rails or plates!
