My daughters birthday is in two weeks and my indoor photos on my T7 look terrible and dark. I have like 50 or 60 dollars left for a flash but I'm so confused by all the options and technical talk. Sorry if this is a dumb question but what's a cheap flash that actually works for a beginner?

to add to the point above: i actually feel a bit differently about the mini godox. i tried a small flash like that for my kids party last year and it just didnt have enough power to light up the whole room... i ended up with some pretty grainy shots anyway. i'm always super cautious about compatibility with the t7 specifically. i once borrowed a flash from a friend and it wouldn't fire at all because of that missing center pin issue, which totally ruined my mood. i would suggest looking at the Neewer NW-670 TTL Flash for Canon instead. it's usually around 55 bucks and feels way more powerful than the tiny ones. just be careful and double check your camera mount before you order tho... wouldnt want you stuck with a paperweight right before the big day.

To add to the point above: im satisfied with the Godox TT350C Mini TTL Flash for Canon. It works well with the T7 shoe and the auto mode makes indoor shots easy... no complaints.

just be careful with that t7 specifically tho. some versions dont have the center sync pin on the mount so cheap generic ones wont fire at all. i would suggest looking at the Yongnuo YN565EX III TTL Flash for Canon as a safe starter. make sure you check your camera top first... it might be easier to use a ttl flash so you dont have to fiddle with manual settings during the party.

I am honestly in the exact same boat right now! Dealing with that T7 hot shoe is such a massive headache and so frustrating when you just want your gear to work! I totally agree with what Thomas said about the power issues too. There is nothing worse than being all excited to take photos and realizing your setup just isnt reliable enough to actually light up the room! Its seriously so annoying when you cant just count on your equipment to fire every single time!
