so i finally upgraded to a canon 90d for my sisters wedding next month and im honestly panicking about the audio because the built in mic sounds like garbage. i spent all night looking at stuff and everyone says the rode videomic pro is the gold standard but then i saw a bunch of threads saying it has a weird hiss with the 90d specifically... then i looked at the sennheiser mke 400 but people say its way too quiet for outdoor stuff. im in the uk so its probably gonna be windy at the ceremony and i only have like 200 bucks left in my budget. i just dont want to ruin her big day with crappy sound. which one actually works without the buzzing noise?

Been thinking about your setup for a bit... that 90D hiss people complain about is usually just the cameras internal gain being set way too high. If you keep camera levels low and use a mic with a built-in booster, it sounds way cleaner. Honestly, the wind is gonna be your biggest enemy for a UK wedding tho. Quick question: are you planning to stay in one spot or will you be running around catching different angles? It makes a huge difference for which polar pattern you want. If you want a solid all-rounder, the Rode VideoMic NTG On-Camera Shotgun Microphone is killer because it has an infinitely variable gain knob. Another decent option is the Azden SMX-30 Stereo Mono Switchable Mic which is super versatile for weddings since you can switch modes. Just make sure you grab a proper furry windshield for the wind!

I'm very satisfied with these models.
